Genesis Plastics Welding, a Fortville-Ind. based contract manufacturer, has been recognized as one of the 2014 Indiana Companies to Watch, an award program presented by the Indiana Office of Small Business and Entrepreneurship (OSBE), its Indiana Small Business Development Center, the Indiana Economic Development Corporation (IEDC), and endorsed by the Edward Lowe Foundation.

Since the company’s launch three decades ago, Genesis has consistently invested in the people, technology, equipment and facilities to meet its customers’ plastics welding needs in the medical device, military and consumer industries. Just in the last few years, the privately-owned company completed a $3.3 million expansion, added a third Class 7 medical clean room that meets FDA requirements for manufacturing of certain classes of medical devices and components, and also earned its ISO 13485:2003 certification.

“We’ve worked very hard to uniquely position ourselves to meet the needs of a rapidly expanding and highly regulated medical device industry. Our entire team of employees has been committed to serving as champions of success for our owners, customers and business partners,” says Genesis CEO Tom Ryder. “As a result, the last few years have brought about great growth for our company. I’m so pleased that our success to date has culminated in receiving recognition as an Indiana Company to Watch.”

Twenty-seven companies from 12 Indiana counties will be honored as outstanding second-stage companies during the fifth annual Indiana Companies to Watch awards program, to be held on August 20 in Indianapolis. The program celebrates Indiana’s privately-held second-stage companies, those businesses that are past the startup phase, are considered to be established, and face issues of growth, not survival.

The program is made possible with the generous support of the Indiana Economic Development Corporation and endorsed by the Edward Lowe Foundation. Sponsors include the Barnes & Thornburg, Katz Sapper & Miller, Key Bank and Ivy Tech Corporate College.

Companies to Watch firms must employ between six and 150 full-time equivalent employees, have between $750,000 and $100 million in annual revenue or working capital in place, and demonstrate the intent and capacity to grow based on employee or sales growth, exceptional entrepreneurial leadership, sustainable competitive advantage or other notable strengths.
