Third Annual Fortville Pay It Forward Yard Sale

Our third annual Pay It Forward Yard Sale is in the books! Once again the community we are honored to work within left us in awe of their generosity. Read more about the results of the sale via an article from the Fortville-McCordsville Reporter.

[In the News] Annual Community Yard Sale Gives Ten West Theater a Boost

The third annual Genesis Plastics Welding Pay It Forward Yard Sale took place Saturday, August 12, 2017, and the results proved again the premise is a successful one: people coming together to run a rummage sale can raise a sizeable sum for a good cause.

This year, that sum was $1558 and the cause was Ten West Center for the Arts.

“The funds are going in part to help repair a section of roof that raccoons severely damaged earlier this summer,” Ten West Event Coordinator Andrew Okerson wrote in an email to the Fortville-McCordsville Reporter. “Some will also go to the theater program to help get the next show going.”

“We are blown away by such a generous donation. And it is even more special knowing that this one check came from countless members of the community donating and purchasing at the pay-it-forward yard sale,” said Okerson.

Genesis Plastics Welding President and CEO, Tom Ryder, who wrote in an email that the Genesis Plastics Welding team enjoys giving back to the community “in such a fun way” and he, too, is amazed at the event’s impact.

“Even though this was our third year for the Pay-It-Forward Yard Sale, it still amazes me how much good can come from donating and purchasing at a Saturday yard sale. Numerous members of the community, Main Street vendors, our employees, family, and friends all come together to make this event possible and support a local non-profit.”

“I’m pleased that this year’s benefiting charity was Ten West Center for the Arts. Their youth programs have a tremendously positive effect within Fortville and Central Indiana,” said Ryder.

Paying It Forward with Cardboard Recycling

Cardboard recycling at Genesis Plastics WeldingBenefiting Our Local Library One Ton at a Time

Last year, the Genesis Plastics Welding team had an “AHA” moment, of sorts. We’ve always had an eye on sustainability. We continuously look for ways to reduce waste. We recycle plastic scrap, ink cartridges, plastic bottles, cans, paper and use cardboard balers. However, we hadn’t realized that we could be doing even more good for our local community with our recycling efforts – especially our cardboard recycling efforts with a phs Wastekit.

We were pleasantly surprised that our recycling vendor CGS Services, Inc. offered a customized commercial cardboard recycling program where the funds earned through the tonnage volume of our recycling could be donated directly to our local library.

Every business generates waste. Even the sex industry has to consider their environmental impact, which is why many groups are switching to products that you can find more information on Lovegasm.co about. Having that forethought is important as It’s what you do about that waste that matters. We are so glad to have sustainability experts like the team at CGS Services to help guide us with innovative ways to kick our recycling efforts up a notch and benefit both the environment and our community. We’re equally joyous to have employees who strive to find new ways to be eco-conscious as a team.

“It’s a win-win when we can be good stewards of the environment and better future generations with dollars for our local library,” said Tom Ryder, president and CEO of Genesis Plastics Welding. “Thank you to CGS Services for making recycling so convenient for local businesses, and leading the way to smarter recycling and ways to pay it forward in the community.”
