“Unity is strength…when there is teamwork and collaboration, wonderful things can be achieved.” – American Poet Mattie J.T. Stepanek
We are humbled by the outcome of our first Genesis Plastics Welding Pay It Forward event – a large multi-booth company-sponsored yard sale. Through the collaboration of our employees, the surrounding businesses in Fortville and the local community, we were able to raise $1766.73 to be donated to the local Fortville Main Street Food Pantry. This local pantry run by Fortville First United Methodist Church serves approximately 30 households, both single and multi-person, each week. However, that number can swell to as many as 50 during the holiday season.
We were inspired by the grassroots pay it forward initiatives around us within the community and are honored that we are able to add to those efforts and provide needed funds to the Main Street Food Pantry. Those funds will help purchase items that are harder to come by like diapers, formula, non-perishable proteins, snacks for kids and personal hygiene items.
“I’m overjoyed that we were able to come together as a team, be stewards of goodwill and benefit neighbors right here in our own community,” said Tom Ryder, CEO and president of Genesis Plastics Welding. “I encourage other businesses within the area to join the pay it forward movement. Together we can indeed achieve wonderful things.”
We’d like to thank the local businesses that walked side by side with us for our Pay It Forward Yard Sale event: Ferris Signs, The Snow Shack, Abrasive Processing & Technologies, Fortville Feeders, Slammin’ Tammy’s Bar, New Tech Roofing – Butcher Boys, Sunrise Donuts, What A Girl Wants Boutique, Tim’s Donuts and Wag’s Stray Animal Foundation.
