Recently Genesis Plastics Welding came to the aid of a U.S. based wound therapy systems OEM looking to bring a negative pressure wound device to market. When the OEM first contacted Genesis they were in early prototyping stages and working with physicians in the field to test and tweak their initial design. Primary device goals included user comfort, clear identification, ease of use, but also device strength and integrity of welded seals to prevent leakage. Overall the OEM wanted optimal wound healing conditions and the best user and health care provider experience possible.
Genesis’ team of highly skilled engineers went right to work, asking the right questions and clearly defining the necessary customer desired specifications to bring the design to life on the manufacturing floor, all while keeping a close eye on the overall desired device price point as they provided expertise in materials sourcing and recommended raw components vendors to the OEM. After two rounds of brisk prototyping and slight device modifications, along with an outside sterilization validation round, the OEM was to market with their proprietary negative pressure wound therapy device and sales continue to climb for the OEM.
Due to our successful collaboration and initial production runs, Genesis is currently working on a new opportunity to once again help the OEM with another proprietary wound therapy device.
